Christopher Walken

Youtube is a great resource for music videos. Just enter the artist name or song title in the search field and there is a great chance that you might find it. Today, for example, I stumbled over an old favorite of mine, featuring one of Americas greatest actors, Christopher Walken.

Pot stand

Last sunday (about a week ago) I was bored and decided to spend most of the day making a pot stand out of a piece of wood that I had lying around.

I used a hand saw, a Dremel (thanks mom and dad) and a good knife to carve out the wood, and sandpaper and varnish to make a nice finish. You can see the result below:

Now that sure saved me a euro or two!

Why software sucks…

If you are involved in designing, programming or buying software, I recommend you to listen to the podcast episode linked below. It gives a very good insight into what’s wrong with most software products today. I haven’t read the book, but you can buy it through the podcast page.

Why software sucks...IT Conversations: David Platt
What is the most important thing to the average computer user? They want their machine to “just work”. Why does Google know how to correctly translate a United Parcel Service tracking number, while the actual UPS website requires multiple entries just to get to the point where the tracking number can be entered? Programmer David Platt is the author of “Why Software Sucks…and What You Can Do About It”. He discusses his findings with Phil, Matt, and Scott.

David Platt’s blog Suckbusters gives more examples of good and bad software.

Pan’s Labyrinth

I just read that Guillermo del Toro’s new film “Pan’s Labyrinth” is premiering on Norwegian cinemas today. I am delighted to see that this film is reaching beyond Spanish borders. This is a great movie and I recommend those of you who haven’t seen it to do so. On a large screen.

If you have Quicktime installed, you may see the trailer here.
